A Note from the Chairman: Looking Ahead

Beaufort County Republicans are UNITED.  The results from reorganization, the County Convention elections, and the State Delegate votes for SCGOP leadership demonstrate our unity.

Now our focus shifts to getting ready for three big elections in 2024:

  • Presidential Preference Primary in February (first in the South)

  • SC statewide Primary in June

  • General Election in November

Our TOP priority is a Republican sweep in South Carolina for President, SC Senate, SC House and County Council.  To WIN in November 2024, we must continue to GROW the party, which includes:

  • New members and 100% membership renewals

  • Growth in precinct participation and engagement

  • Party members involved as poll workers or poll watchers in 100% of Beaufort County polling locations

  • Informed precinct members and successful efforts to get out the vote (GOTV) for Republicans

If you haven’t renewed your membership for 2023, please do so here.  Our membership cost has remained flat for over 20 years because we continue to GROW, but Bidenflation and the need to WIN elections more than ever before means that we need you to stay involved.  Remember, the BCRP is 100% run by volunteers, from poll watchers to Chairman.  While we don’t pay wages to anyone, we do need to cover costs for periodic meetings, printing, website and utilities.

We’ve seen more than 100 new members join this year, and we appreciate your efforts to recruit and engage more people to help us GROW.

We will begin our “Precinct 2024” program in late June, kicking off with:

  • Regional Zoom calls with precinct leaders

  • Distribution of precinct voter lists

  • Scripts and strategies for outreach

Our goal for turnout in the statewide Primary Election is 30+%, or at least 6 points higher than the estimated state average.  In addition to having Republicans WIN in the General Election, our target for turnout is 77+%, or 5 points higher than the statewide average in 2020.

Note that the 2024 campaign season will be difficult in South Carolina and Beaufort County. Presidential candidates will focus their spending on purple states, so it’s up to us to get out the vote and keep SC a solidly red state.  At the state and congressional level, Democrats are already planning their challenges up and down the ballot.  Again, our efforts to engage the precincts and GOTV will carry the day to keep Beaufort County and our Congressional District red.

Our county party’s shift over the past couple years from a passive local club to a relevant and active political organization has been possible due to your participation and support.  In addition to our three Regional Directors, our State Executive Committeeman and our Vice Chairman, we have excellent leadership in the following roles:

  • Vice Chair, Outreach - Maddy Mansell

  • Treasurer - Ed Stevenson

  • Recording Secretary - Sherrie Mikrut

  • Parliamentarian - John Casey

If you wish to volunteer, please reach out to: bcrpvol@gmail.com or contact us online. Here are just some of the areas you can help:

  • Grow the Party

  • Poll Worker & Poll Watcher Recruitment

  • Volunteer Coordinator

  • Events Planning

  • Communications Planning

Please continue your support, let me know how you’d like to help, and let’s GROW and WIN for Republicans!
